Philadelphia Museum of Art
Founded in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the largest art museums in the United States. Its landmark main building, completed in 1928, sits atop Fairmount at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval.
The museum houses more than 240,000 works of art spanning European, American, and Asian traditions. Its collections include paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, armor, textiles, and decorative arts.
The museum also oversees additional locations, including the Rodin Museum on the Parkway and the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building across from the main building, which features extensive collections of prints, drawings, photographs, costumes, textiles, and modern and contemporary design.
